Teenagers arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after Deighton 12-year-old shot

Detectives investigating the attempted murder of a 12-year-old boy have re-arrested two 17-year-olds on suspicion of attempted murder.

In a new development, a 55-year old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, police said.

All have been bailed as enquiries continue.

The Homicide and Major Enquiry Team at West Yorkshire Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the shooting at the Northfield Hall Community Centre on Norfolk Avenue, Deighton on Tuesday March 10.

Detective Chief Inspector Vanessa Rolfe who is leading the investigation, said: “This is a continually developing investigation and it remains crucial that we hear from anyone in the community who can assist us in our ongoing enquiries.

“If you have not spoken out and have information that could progress what is a constantly evolving situation, I would urge you to get in touch immediately.

“This was an extremely young victim and any outstanding witnesses should consider the absolute importance of coming forward and what it represents.

“All reports made to us will be treated and handled sensitively.

“Information can also separately be given in complete anonymity to the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.

“Likewise, information can also be given online and direct to investigators through the Major Incident Public Portal here."
