Terrified woman struggled with men who tried to snatch car keys

A woman is recovering from a terrifying ordeal after two men pounced on her in an attempt to steal her car keys.

The victim had just finished work at Halifax Bank and was walking back to her car parked behind the Beehive and Cross Keys pub in King Cross Street, Halifax, when the two men attacked.

The incident happened in High Street car park which is now used by workers employed by Lloyds Banking Group, which owns the Halifax.

When the thieves approached the woman a struggle is believed to have taken place.

But when a man who had left the pub shouted over, the two men fled the scene empty handed. The incident happened on Tuesday night at around 6.55pm.

Police are particularly keen to speak to the man who shouted over and anyone else who witnessed the incident. Contact DS Terry O’Keeffe at Calderdale CID on 101.
