A woman has been given a suspended sentence after she stole a charity box from a Halifax takeaway.
Emma Kershaw, 31, of Gibbet Street, used a lighter to burn through the string of the charity box for Pakistan Flood Appeal in Immads Fast Food Takeaway on King Cross Road on April 28.
She put the charity box in her handbag and left the shop. She was followed by the shop owner who confronted her, at which point she gave back the box, which is thought to have contained around £65.
She was given a four-week suspended sentence, ordered to pay £85 costs and must complete a drug rehab course.
