Thieves target man in his 90s

DETECTIVES are looking for thieves who took cash from an elderly man’s home.

The burglary happened on Park Road in Elland at the home of a man in his 90s.

Two men called at his home, asking if he wanted his garden tidying. After the work was complete and paid for, one of the men asked for a drink.

After they left, the elderly man discovered cash was missing.

Police say they are keen to trace the men, who were using a white or cream or possible green pick-up truck with writing on the side.

It had gardening equipment and ladders on the back of the roof.

The theft was reported at around 10.30am on Tuesday, July 26.

Anyone who can help find the men or has information about the theft should get in touch with Detective Constable Craig Pearson in Calderdale CID on 0845 6060606.

Police say they also want to hear from anyone who may have received similar approaches from gardeners or other workmen.
