A body pulled from the River Calder may have been that of a missing man
Police officers received a report that an 86-year-old man had gone missing in Brighouse at 4.12am on Friday.
A search followed and officers later discovered a body in the river near a weir close to Anchor Place, Brighouse.
The dead man was discovered around 5am this morning and police officers called for firefighters to attend and assist them.
Specially trained water rescue technicians, from Brighouse Fire Station, entered the water and retrieved the body.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers found the man in the weir just before 5am. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a file has been prepared for the coroner.”
