Update: Halifax man appears in court over manslaughter of pensioner

A 30-year-old man from Halifax has appeared in court charged in connection with the death of 69-year-old Huddersfield man Adrian Smith.

Jacob Crawshaw, of Emscote Avenue in Halifax, appeared at Bradford Magistrates Court, where he entered no plea.

The 23-year-old was remanded in custody and will next appear at Leeds Crown Court on June 1.

Mr Smith, 69, died of his injuries at Leeds General Infirmary following the incident in New Street on May 13 at 11.12pm.

A 23-year-old man, who was arrested in connection with the incident, has been released from police custody with no further action.
