Update: Halifax train death man named

A man who died after being struck by a train at Beacon Hill on Saturday night has been named.

British Transport Police (BTP) is appealing for the public’s help to trace the last movements of Paul George Grajnert, 43, of Wellington Place, Halifax, who died after being struck by a train in the Hipperholme area of Halifax on Saturday,June 7.

Mr Grajnert died after being struck by a Huddersfield to Leeds service shortly before 11pm between Beacon Hill tunnel and Hipperholme.

Detective Inspector Ian Trantum, of BTP, said: “We have been carrying out enquiries including viewing CCTV, but we are today appealing for any members of the public who saw or spoke to Mr Grajnert on Saturday, June 7, in the hours leading up to his death, to come forward as you may be able to assist us.

“Our thoughts are very much with Mr Grajnert’s family at this sad time and BTP officers have been providing support since his death. The family is understandably distraught and keen to find out the full circumstances which led to his death on the railway line.”
