Update: Robert Hind dead

Senior Investigating Officer Superintendent Scott Wood said: “We can now confirm that the suspected human remains recently recovered from the Colne Vale area of Huddersfield are that of missing man Robert Edward Hind.

“A forensic post mortem examination was carried out which showed the 46-year-old died as a result of strangulation and head injuries.

“The scene guards in Colne Vale Road and an address in Manchester Road at Cowlersley in Huddersfield have now been lifted.”

David Mitchell, 46, has been charged with Mr Hind’s murder, and he appeared before Huddersfield Magistrates Court and has been remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday (Dec 19).

Hind absconded from an address in Dewsbury last week and used to live in the Hebden Bridge area.

He was last seen with another man at Huddersfield Bus Station at 9.20 am on Wednesday.
