UPDATED: Police called to robbery at Brighouse jewellers - culprits were armed with hammers

A pair of robbers each weilding a hammer attacked a jewellers in Brighouse yesterday.

Detectives were called with reports of an ongoing robbery at H Marsden Jewellers on Bradford Road at 11.09am.

Two men, wearing balaclavas and identicle clothing, had burst in and threatened staff.

They smashed a display case and escaped with a small quantity of jewellery.

They made off in a green vehicle.

No one was hurt.

Neighbouring businesses said they did not hear anything but reported seeing them escape in car which sped off with its passenger door open.

Inquiries are ongoing and detectives are urging anyone with information who contact them in Calderdale CID via 101.
