Van driver twice the legal drink limit caught sleeping on M62 hard shoulder

A van driver who tried to make off after he was caught sleeping on the M62 hard shoulder was stopped by police in Brighouse.

The driver was first caught sleeping on the hard shoulder by Highways England officers.

The van managed to make off from officers but the vehicle was later stopped by officers from West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing unit.

The unit stopped the van at Junction 25 of the M62 at Brighouse at 10.23pm on January 6.

As officers carried out checks they found the driver was twice the legal drink drive limit, and had no licence or insurance.

The driver was charged to appear at court and the vehicle was seized.
