Vase that is 100 years old stolen in Huddersfield

Police in Huddersfield are appealing for information after a 100-year-old vase was stolen during a burglary.

The £120 vase was taken from a flat on Ravensknowle Road from a windowsill via an insecure window. It was the only thing that was stolen.

The china vase, which belonged to an 89-year-old woman, was one of a pair and was a wedding present for the victim’s mother.

PC Carolyn White of Kirklees Police said: “This ornamental vase, which is pink and white and features an image of a bird and flowers, is of great sentimental value to the victim and we are appealing for anyone who knows anything about the burglary to contact us via 101.

“We are also appealing for anyone who may have been offered this vase for sale or knows of its whereabouts to call us.

“This was a crime that probably took place in seconds, but is has the potential to cause the victim a lifetime of distress. If anybody knows anything about this burglary, I would urge them to contact us as soon as possible.”

Any witnesses or anyone with information about the theft between 8pm on April 13 and 2pm the next day, can also call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
