Vietnamese woman in court after discovery of 285 cannabis plants in Halifax

A 36-year-old Vietnamese woman is to stand trial next month following the discovery of a cannabis farm at a rented house in Savile Park.

Ut Tran was assisted by a Vietnamese interpreter during a hearing before Bradford Crown Court this morning (Tuesday) following the discovery of almost 300 cannabis plants at the house in Glen Terrace three months ago.

Tran, who is currently remanded in custody, pleaded not guilty to charges of producing 285 cannabis plants, possessing a quantity of cannabis with intent to supply the Class B drug and being concerned in the production of cannabis.

All the charges arise from the discovery of the cannabis growing operation on April 23.

The court heard that Tran’s trial has been fixed to start on August 25.

Although Tran was remanded back into custody following the plea and case management hearing her barrister Abigail Langford indicated that a bail application may be made on her behalf in the future.
