Warning issued as sneak in burglaries rise in Calderdale areas

Police officers in Calderdale have seen a rise in sneak in burglaries in the district.

Calderdale neighbourhood policing teams has said they have seen in increase in theft from dwellings, sheds and outbuildings where doors have been left open,

These offences have been classed as sneak in burglaries and they usually increase when the weather gets warmer and people leave doors and windows ope say the NPT

Over the last seven days, offences have been committed in the areas of Blackshaw Head, Bradshaw, Illingworth, Mytholmroyd, Ovenden, Skircoat, Town Centre.

A spokesperson for the police force said: "Sneak in burglars want what’s yours – always lock windows and doors

"It only takes a minute to prevent burglaries and costs nothing other than your to time to stop it from happening.

"Sneak in burglary can happen when you are out or when you are at home, so it is vital that you keep doors and windows locked at all times.

"It is extremely important to get into the habit of locking doors and windows either when you are leaving or arriving home – make sure that everyone else who lives in your home does the same thing."
