Witness appeal after sexual assault in Bingley

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 21-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in Bingley.

The incident happened on the canal tow path between Bingley Five Rise Locks and Gilstead Two Rise Locks at around 11.50am on Wednesday, July 9.

The woman was walking on her own along the path, when she was touched over her clothing by a man on a bike.

The suspect is described as Asian and of chubby build. He is believed to be aged between 25 to 35 and had short dark hair.

He was wearing grey jogging bottoms, a tight fitting white t-shirt and riding a dark coloured mountain bike.

After the incident he was seen to ride off along the tow path towards Shipley.

PC Charlotte Dawson, of the Shipley Area Neighbourhood Team, said: “This man was seen cycling along the tow path several times by the victim before the incident occurred.

“It is likely that someone else will have seen him, either on the tow path or as he cycled off towards Shipley.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 5377 Dawson on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
