PC Dave Briggs said: “As well as causing the injury, the incident had understandably upset the victim and her confidence has been knocked, making it difficult for her to go into town to do her shopping alone.

“At the time of the incident the woman noticed three Asian males who were behind her. One of then picked up the can and told the lady that someone had done the same to them earlier. They promised to go to the police station to report the incident and hand in the can but this did not happen.

“We want to speak to these three in connection with the incident or anyone who may have witnessed the incident.”
