Woman sexually assaulted at home

A woman was sexually assaulted in her own home by an acquaintance, Bradford Crown Court was told.

Ted Alderson, 49, of Beswick Street, Todmorden, was sentenced to eight months in prison suspended for two years after admitting sexual assault.

A sexual offences prevention order was also imposed banning him from contacting the complainant and Alderson will undergo a six month alcohol treatment programme.

Matthew Bean, prosecuting, said the complainant knew Alderson and had been speaking to him outside her house on a Todmorden estate.

“He came uninvited into her house in drink and touched her over her clothing,” he said.

The woman eventually got Alderson to leave after about three quarters of an hour,

He remained outside her house shouting and police were called and he was arrested.

The court was told his victim was left unable to sleep following her ordeal. She was also left frightened.

Judge Jonathan Durham Hall told Alderson: “In her own home you molested her due to your drink.

“This cannot happen again. It will not be tolerated.”
