YOBS have bricked the signs at a Calderdale councillor’s recently-opened taxi firm.
Councillor Ferman Ali (Park, Lab) opened Taxi A Class on Tower Hill in Sowerby Bridge just a few months ago.
But when he came into work today, he discovered the sign outside had been smashed.
He estimates he will have to fork out £1,500 to have it repaired.
“We usually try to run the business 24 hours but the last operator left at 3.30am yesterday,” he said.
“When I came in at 5.45am, the sign had been bricked.”
He said aside from the vandalism, business is going well. The number of jobs the firm receives has gone up from around 150 a week when it opened to 700.
Anyone with information about the damage, which happened sometime between 3.30am and 5.45am yesterday, that could help with the police’s investigation is being asked to call Halifax Central neighbourhood policing team via 101.
Information can also be passed on via crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers, where details can be passed on anonymously, on 0800 555111.
