Death on railway outside Halifax latest - 44-year-old man dead

A 44-year-old man died after being hit by a train outside Halifax.

He was struck on the line in the Salterhebble area at around 4.33pm on Staurday.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the railway line near Dryclough Junction in Halifax following a report of a man being struck by a train.

“BTP and West Yorkshire Police officers attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 4.33pm and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“Officers have been working to formally identify the man, who is believed to be a 44-year -ld local man, inform his next of kin and prepare a report for the coroner.”

The train involved was the 3.58pm Manchester Victoria to Selby service.

Trains were cancelled for several hours, with replacement buses provided.
