The Calder Valley Search and Rescue team were called to moorland above Ogden reservoir after a dog walker suffered a leg injury

The team was about to start a training session when they got an urgent request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) for assistance with locating and evacuating a casualty.

Thirty-six members from CVSRT were deployed immediately and whilst en-route, the National Police Air Service assisted with the search, located the young man and his two dogs, and guided the West Yorkshire Police ground units and Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedics to his location.

Due to the steep ground terrain and stormy wintery conditions, the casualty was quickly packaged into a winter casualty bag and promptly evacuated by stretcher to higher flat ground and the safety of our Land Rover Defender 110 (CM2), which transported him off the moors to the waiting land ambulance.

The team spent over an hour at the scene before the team was stood down at 9.20pm

At 21:20 the team stood down and returned to base.
