Home developer Taylor Wimpey has donated £500 to Old Rishworthian rugby union club to help fund its brand new clubhouse extension.

The donation contributed to the major refurbishment project, as well as improving the changing and showering facilities.

Helen Jones, who volunteers as a first aider at the club, said: “Thanks to Taylor Wimpey’s contribution, we’ve been able to finish our extension quicker than expected. The growth of the club has meant that our clubhouse is often overflowing, especially on Sundays when a number of our teams play at home.

“We would like to thank Taylor Wimpey for their generous donation, which will greatly improve facilities for both the club and community, and hopefully encourage new players to join.”

The club, which has teams ranging from ages five to 18, has grown rapidly over the past few years, to now over 400 members.

Anne Bagshaw, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, said: “With the imminent opening of our new Calder View development in this area, we wanted to support a club that’s clearly at the heart of the local community. We know how hard Old Rishworthian rugby club has worked hard to raise the money towards this project and we also wanted to help this great cause.

“We’ve been excited to see the clubhouse renovation progress at the same time as we gear up for the unveiling of our Calder View development, and seeing the final result ready for the start of the new season.”
