Drug lord gets seven years

Mohammed Asad Daud, 28, from Savile Town in Dewsbury pleaded guilty on Friday to all charges and was sentenced to a total of seven years and three months for intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin, intent to supply cannabis and for money laundering.

He was arrested in January as part of Operation Quartz in which officers worked closely with the POCA team who investigate proceeds of crime.

More than £60,000 in cash was recovered from the defendant’s property and from a car parked on the driveway, along with Class A drugs with a value of around £167,000, and Class B drugs worth around £400. The Class A drugs were found in an Audi RS3 sports car and this vehicle, worth around £35,000, along with the significant amount of cash, are believed to have been obtained through criminal activity.

Police Constable Gary Calvert of Kirklees CID said, “This sentence should be a warning to those who profit from the despair caused by drugs. Operation Quartz demonstrates the priority we give to stopping those who deal drugs, in this case, drugs that would have been destined for the streets of West Yorkshire.”
