A dry start today, but it will become cloudier through the morning with more wind and rain spreading northwards through the afternoon.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for the public to be aware of wet conditions in Yorkshire from noon through to midnight.

It said the incoming rain will fall as snow above approximately 250m.

“The public should be aware of the potential for very poor conditions and disruption to travel due to snow as well as temporary blizzard conditions over the higher routes, due to strong winds accompanying the system,” said the Met Office.

Any hill snow should turn to rain early this evening and winds should remain brisk overnight and it will feel cold.

This morning the M62 has very slow traffic eastbound between J26, M606 Chain Bar and J27, M621 Gildersome.

A replacement bus service is running on Northern Rail between Hebden Bridge and Burnley Manchester Road due to engineering works.
