Crime writing husband and wife team, RC Bridgestock went back to their roots for the launch of their new D.I Dylan novel, Killer Smile.
The pair made a stop at Calderdale College, where Carol used to work as a hairdressing lecturer, to present their own award to a lucky student.
Carol and Bob Bridgestock, crime consultants behind hit BBC drama Happy Valley, visited the college last month to present the Crime Make-up Artist of the Year award to a Hair, Media Make-up student at the College.
The winner of the award will have the opportunity to shadow professional make-up artists on the set of the next series of Happy Valley and gain vital hands-on work experience working with top professionals on the BAFTA award winning show.
Carol and Bob presented the award to deserving winner, Abbygail Robertshaw. Abbygail is not only a Hair, Media Make-up student but she has also studied Level 2 Fashion and Photographic Make-up and Level 3 Bridal Hair this academic year.
Abbygail said: “I feel absolutely honoured and amazed, this award means everything. It’s nice to know that you’ve been recognised for your hard work, because sometimes it’s easy for people to not know how you are doing.
“Being able to work on Happy Valley is just incredible, there are not many people that would be able to get you that experience so I’ve got to say thank you.
“Bob and Carol are such inspiration people, they’ve started from the bottom and they’ve achieved so much, it inspires you to want to be as successful as them.”
Abbygail’s proud Lecturer, Pamela Clare said: “I’m just so proud of Abbygail for achieving this award.
“It couldn’t go to a more deserving student. As a tutor I’ve been lucky to have her in my classroom. To have Bob and Carol award her this and for her to be able to work on Happy Valley with Red Productions, is very much justified.”
