CHILDREN showed their football knowledge was spot-on during a reading workshop.
Tom Palmer, author of the Foul Play series of books, visited youngsters at Todmorden C of E School to lead the football-themed session.
Mr Palmer, who uses football as a way of getting children interested in reading, spoke to pupils about his books and then put them to the test with a sporting quiz.
Those who correctly answered questions were entered into a penalty shootout competition at the end of the session.
“It was a really good afternoon,” Mr Palmer said. “They are a good bunch.” His visit came about after pupil Isaac Hewson-Betts, eight, got in touch with him about his books.
