The Governors of Brighouse High School have announced an important change to the school’s leadership structure.

As part of the governors’ succession plan for headship, Richard Horsfield has been appointed to the post of associate head teacher from this month.

Mr Horsfield will work alongside current head teacher Liz Cresswell in leading the school from the start of the summer term. The phased plan for succession at head teacher level will be over four academic terms, culminating in Mr Horsfield becoming the school’s head in September 2019.

It is envisaged that Mrs Cresswell will retain an executive leadership role with the school beyond 2019.

Mr Horsfield has worked at Brighouse High School since 1997. He has held posts of head of English, assistant head teacher and deputy head teacher with responsibility for curriculum and assessment.

“His vision and values align fully with those of Brighouse High School and governors are confident that they have secured a high quality leader who will build on the achievements and reputation of the school,” a spokesman said.
