A GIANT bear was the special guest at a party to celebrate a school’s new play area.
Buster Bear, mascot for the First bus firm, was invited to mark the opening of the area at Wood Bank School in Luddenden Foot after the firm donated £2,000 towards the project.
Youngsters and staff celebrated the official opening with a teddy bear’s picnic.
Head teacher at the school Jane Ingham said because of the location of the school, they had often found the weather too windy or wet for pupils to play out.
But now, thanks to Friends of Woodbank School collecting £15,000 in donations, they now have a covered play area with roller shutters on three sides.
She said the children now have more opportunity to play outside. “It’s fantastic,” she said. She thanked First for donating to the project.
