Libby Price is the 1,500th cyclist to successfully complete the Calderdale Bikeability training programme in the past year.

To mark the occasion, the Todmorden Junior School pupil was given a new bike and cycle helmet, courtesy of a West Yorkshire Fire Service legacy trust.

Bikeability instructors provide training for nine to 11-year-olds.

Through the scheme, firefighters have become qualified cycle instructors and three Calderdale fire stations provide training bases.

Cycling officer, Andy Geall said: “The Local Sustainable Transport Fund Cycling Project will soon be providing free cycle training to adults under the brand of go:cycling.”
