Parkinson Lane Community Primary School, Halifax, honoured Calderdale’s fallen heroes in their school community play.

The play highlighted the symbolic game of peace - when soldiers fighting for Germany and England put aside the fact they were at battle against one another and played a game of football on Christmas day.

School office manager, Charlotte Bartkiw, said: “The game shows how whichever side soldiers were on, they gave a thought to the families and loved ones of the enemy - and that was the message to our children.”

There was a remembrance of local soldiers.
