Holy Trinity Primary School has been awarded the Communication Commitment award for supporting children and young people’s speech, language and communication development.
Holy Trinity introduced the Communication Commitment – an initiative run by The Communication Trust – in September 2013 and have since run whole-school training days and staff meetings dedicated to supporting pupils with speech, language and communication needs, organised parent workshops and held special coffee mornings.
In addition, the school has introduced memorable experiences for pupils such as more schools visits, baking lessons in all classes and inviting storytellers, poets and musicians into class to help develop and increase childrens vocabulary supporting them to become confident speakers and writers.
Liz Whetham, head teacher, said: “We are delighted to have won the award.
“Our school motto is ‘lighting the way to a better future’ and this award shows how as a school we are working towards that.“
