The historic minster will set the stage for a pre-election debate to encourage voting in Calderdale.
The Halifax Minster will hold a General Election husting as part of the Minster Series 2 lectures.
The debate will take place on April 16 at 6.30pm and will give people a chance to listen to the views of those standing for election in Halifax.
Vicar of Halifax, Rev Canon Hilary Barber said: “We take democracy for granted at our peril, and the Minster Husting is one way of coming to hear those who have the courage to stand for public office, and then going out to vote for those who represent us.”
The lecture will look at how the economic crash in 2008 is still dominant in British politics and the deficit.
