ONE long distance run is enough for most people but energetic Ed Helme has managed 13 - in just a year!
The 30-year-old from Brighouse has been taking part in charity half marathons and 10k runs to raise money for Cancer Research UK since March.
Last year, inspired by comic Eddie Izzard’s 43 marathons in 51 days, he completed 10 races.
This year, the consultant at Lloyds Banking Group said he wanted to step up his game.
He has completed the BUPA Great North Run, BUPA Birmingham Half Marathon, BUPA Great North 10k run, the Great Yorkshire 10k run Leeds Abbey Dash, Bradford 10k run, Bradford Half Marathon, the Leeds Half Marathon and the Wolverhampton Half Marathon.
He has also taken part in three Jane Tomlinson 10k runs - in Leeds, York and Hull - and the Overgate Hospice Half Marathon Midnight Walk.
And he is not finished yet. In 2012, Ed says he plans to do more running including a challenge abroad.
He said: “Cancer is the biggest threat in our lives and by helping to raise as much money as possible we can save as many lives as we can.
“I know family and close friends who have lost people due to cancer and have known people fight it as well. But it is still an ongoing issue which I aim to try and help as much as I can.”
