Calderdale's 'Local Plan' development blueprint verdict likely to come in the new year

A council believes it is likely to be the new year before they hear more about its Local Plan.

Calderdale Council’s draft Local Plan, which could determine where around 9,700 new homes might be built in the borough into the 2030s, is being considered by Planning Inspector Katie Child.

Following four rounds of hearings what may be a final consultation, on main modifications to plan the Inspector had indicated she wanted to see, finished in October.

Ms Child is currently considering the responses received during this latest public consultation before issuing her final report.

She has also considered submission made through the process, including those received at the hearings into the plan, between 2019 and 2022.

Once the council has received this it hopes it can proceed to adopt the Calderdale Local Plan – this is likely to be early 2023, says the authority.

The Inspector was appointed by the Government to oversee the process.
