Two council workers gave up their own time to help clean up after the Todmorden flood.
Stephen Hollas, from Ovenden, and Jamie Bradley, from Sowerby Bridge, volunteered to help households who had been affected by the flood at the weekend.
The pair had already done their bit in their roles in the Safer, Greener, Cleaner team for the council by working on the clean up in the area earlier in the week.
Mr Hollas said: “I did the clean up on the Monday and asked my manager if I could take a van down there at the weekend voluntarily.
“Seeing the damage close up really made me sympathise with the residents there.
“I got in touch with the Calder Valley Flood Victims group on Facebook and said I’d be volunteering, so they took me round and showed me the worst affected areas.
“It was mainly kitchen units, carpets and lino that people had left outside their houses but I just thought I might as well offer my help. Hopefully we left the area a bit tidier than it was before.”
