Dramatic video: Man pulled through sunroof from submerged car in flooded Calder town

THIS dramatic video shows the moment a motorist was plucked to safety through the roof of his sumberged car in a flooded West Yorkshire town.

A team from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue pulled off the rescue after the elderly occupant of the car became trapped in floodwater in Mytholmroyd, near Halifax.

The centre of the town was completely under water, with residents worried levels would rise further as the rain continued to fall.

Pramedics are seen to climb on to the roof of the vehicle. They reach through the sunroof to haul the man out just before the vehicle is fully submerged.

The man was reported to be “cold and shocked” when he was pulled him from the vehicle. He was taken to hospital suffering from the effects of hypothermia,
