Flood warnings no longer in place in Calderdale

The Environmental Agency has removed all flood warnings in the area.

Calderdale Council stated that: "The flood warning for Hebble Brook at Halifax and River Calder at Brearley and Luddenden Foot and the flood alert for the Upper River Calder catchment are no longer in force."

There are still flood alerts at 3 catchments - Lower River Calder, Middle River Aire, River Spen and Batley Beck.For further flood updates and advice on what to do during and after a flood, visit the Gov UK website.Six community help hubs across Calderdale are open until 4pm today.

Coun Scott Archer-Patient posted a hopeful message on Facebook, implying that the area has seen the worst of Storm Dennis.

"We have had a fairly quiet night with all rivers rising close to, but not above their banks. All “high risk” areas have peaked with EA advising that the storm appears to be easing off and rainfall turning to light showers throughout Sunday.

"We have had a lot of surface water (which is still present in places) however this was tackled quite quickly by Highways and thankfully, no major road closures were needed. Old Lane, Dean Clough has a soft closure currently while the water is pumped out and the road made safe again.

"All in all, an unexpectedly steady night with a positive forecast for Sunday. Thanks to the Flood wardens who remained on duty and vigilant throughout the night, to Calderdale Council out and about cleaning drains and the emergency services and reservists who remained on standby all evening.
