A road will be closed for the duration of a seven-week project to replace 275 metres of water pipe in Mount Tabor.
Beginning on Monday, Balfour Beatty will carry out the work on Stocks Lane, between the junctions of Benns Lane and Mount Tabor Road, on behalf on Yorkshire Water.
The existing pipe is prone to bursting and causes disruption when it bursts.
Due to the nature of the work and to protect the safety of the on-site team and road-users, the road will be closed between these junctions for the duration of the seven week project.
David Standish, Yorkshire Water Project Manager, said: “We understand that this essential work will be disruptive to local residents but this pipe has burst repeatedly over the past few years.
“This project will significantly reduce the risk of that happening in the future.
“We hope that residents will bear with us and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
The company have liaised with local residents and signed diversion routes will be in place.
If a customer’s water supply will be affected, they will be notified in advance.
