A man who set up an online forum to support flood victims has won an award for his community spirit.

After witnessing the damage caused by last summer’s flooding in the upper Calder Valley, Rob Holden set up a group on Facebook for people to share stories and offer each other help and advice.

Following a nomination by Calder Valley MP Craig Whittaker, Rob has won the TalkTalk Digital Heroes Award for the Yorkshire and Humber region.

He thanked everyone who voted and now goes forward to the national final at the House of Commons in November.

“It just goes to show what can be achieved by the community pulling together,” he said.
