Evie Tasker’s latest fundraising effort will see her and two friends take part in a charity triathlon.
The 10-year-old, from Ovenden, undertakes a fundraising activity every year for Overgate Hospice, and this year will be joined by friends Ruby Tolley, 10, and her sister Lola, 11, who live in Warley, and are raising money for Bradford Hospital’s children charity.
On August 4, the trio, who also play for Crossley Belle’s u11’s football team in Illingworth, will swim 200m at Brighouse Swimming pool at 10am, and then head out to Brighouse Park for a 5k bike ride and a 1k run.
Evie’s mum Steph Bray said: “Overgate was a much loved charity of my grandma’s, and we lost her to cancer in August 2012.
“I didn’t want Evie or our family to be sad on the anniversary so I set up a sponsored swim. Since then, each year Evie has taken on a new challenge to raise money for Overgate and has become an avid supporter.
“I’m extremely proud of her.
“She’s always up for a challenge and doing something different.
“It’s great that two of her friends are joining her this year too.
“It will be a challenge but hopefully they have fun too.”
Evie has previously done a sponsored swim, a sponsored silence, car washes and bucket collections for Overgate.
