Ex-servicemen’s club burgled and extensively damaged

Burglars broke into a club, smashed two slot machines and fled with a large amount of money – but owners still did not want to cancel a charity event.

Police are appealing for information about the break-in at Siddal Ex-servicemen’s Club, Halifax, between 2am to 11am on Saturday September 26.

Det Con Alison Mitchell, of Halifax CID, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to this theft which caused extensive damage to the club building and nearly resulted in a charity event being cancelled.

“This club is an integral part of the community in Siddal and I would ask anyone who has information about the break-in or can help us identify the suspects to call Halifax CID on 101.

“We would particularly like to speak to anyone who lives close to the club and may have a CCTV system which has captured footage of the suspects escaping.

“Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
