A BLAZE of fast and furious roller-action will strike Halifax on Saturday.

Fresh from international a success, Hot Wheel Roller Derby will take on Birmingham Blitz Dames at North Bridge Leisure Centre.

Doors open at 4pm and the bout starts at 4.45pm, with performances from male cheerleading squad Dazl Diamonds before the bout and at half-time. Tickets are £6 for adults in advance from the leisure centre or or £7 on the door and free to under-16s.

The team recently won a match against Stuttgart Valley Roller Girlz in Germany and have since had interest from the Dallas Derby Devils from Texas. Sam Briggs, team captain, said: “As we have Halifax as our home venue, we would dearly love the people of Halifax to get behind us and cement Yorkshire roller derby on the European success.”
