Bob’s Sweet Stall, run by Shelagh and Robert Jones, will close on Saturday, after six decades of serving sweet treats to the people of Brighouse and beyond,

The stall was originally set up by Robert 50 years ago and Shelagh began to lend a hand when she came out of nursing 25 years ago.

Shelagh, 81, said: “Robert is in ill health now, so we thought it was time to leave it.

“He doesn’t want to, it’s his life, but it’s time to go.

“We’ve had an amazing time and we have met some amazing people - we’ve met people from all over the world.

“We’ve had some great support from people of Brighouse, even when kids go away to university, they come back and tell you what they have been doing.

People are like friends, not customers and we would just like to thank people for their support,” added Shelagh, of Brighouse.
