On June 12, Father Gott celebrated 50 years of priesthood with a Jubilee Mass at the church, where he was joined by a number of fellow clergy with whom he has been associated for many years.

The 200 strong congregation was made up of his relatives, friends and parishioners not only from the upper Calder Valley, but also from other parishes he has served in the Diocese of Leeds. Visitors included those from the German City of Aachen, twinned with Halifax for many years. During his years of priesthood Father Gott has been a strong supporter of the Aachen-Calderdale link.
