Fire crews from across West Yorkshire made a life saving rescue in Sowerby Bridge.

They were called to Wharf Street in Sowerby Bridge after reports that a man had fallen into the water behind Bridge’s bar at 12.45am on Saturday morning.

Police and firefighters from Halifax, Brighouse, Bingley, Leeds and a specialist technical officer arrived to find the man stranded in the middle of the chest high water.

Firefighters were able to get to him using lines and wet suits.

The man, believed to be in his mid-30s, was recovered from the water and treated by paradmedics.

Police believe the man was intoxicated and had fallen off the bridge over the water.
