Fire crew takes the lead in dog rescue

Fire officers collared a dog that was stuck 40 feet down a quarry and reunited canine and owner.

The pooch was stuck in the quarry off New Street, Southowram, and a specialist technical rescue officer was mobilised to assess the incident and requested a technical support vehicle and pump.

The incident happened around 8.50pm last night (Sunday) and the team from Cleckheaton was lowered 40 feet to the dog. The pooch was safely reunited with its owner.
