Fire crews cut man from car

A fire crew from Elland had to cut a 89-year-old passenger from a BMW after a crash on the M62.

The man was taken to hospital on a spine board after the car he was travelling in hit standing water and collided with the central reservation at 5.05pm this evening.

Crews had to just cutting tools to take the roof off the car to free the man.

The incident occurred on the east bound carriageway just after junction 24 at Ainley Top.

The driver, a 34-year-old female, was taken to hospital to be checked.
