Fire crews prevent large store fire in Halifax


Alert firefighters successfully stopped a major building fire as they were travelling to another incident in Halifax.

Crews from Halifax fire station were on their way to a pallet fire in Tuel Lane, Sowerby Bridge, on Saturday night when they passed the B&M store in Shaw Syke.

Firefighters noticed a large amount of rubbish had been set fire next to the building at 10.25pm.

Crews from Rastrick and Odsal were also called as they tackled the blaze for two hours which involved large sandwich panels measuring 10 metres by five metres.

The fire was prevented from spreading into the building.

The incident is being investigated by police.
