A 15-year-old boy was rescued from a derelict mill last night (Saturday).

Crews from Illingworth were called to the Canal Dye Works building on Old Lane, Ovenden, at 6.30pm last night, after the boy’s friends raised the alarm.

The 15-year-old had found a ladder and tried to enter the building through a window, but he then fell through the floor boards.

A specialist rescue team from Cleckheaton were called and managed to free the boy, who was then taken to Calderdale Royal Hospital where he received treatment for a broken arm.

The boy’s friends did not suffer any injuries.

Police were also in attendance and crews left at around 8pm.
