Fire crews tackle barn blaze in Huddersfield

Fire crews tackled a barn fire in the Holme Valley in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters were called to the incident on Luke Lane, Thongsbridge, Huddersfield, just before 5am today (Sunday).

The two storey building, which was being used as a garage and artist studio, was 50 per cent involved when crews from Huddersfield, Holmfirth and Meltham arrived.

Three large jets, two breathing apparatus, a positive pressure ventilation fan and thermal image camera was used.

A structural engineer was requested to attend from the Kirklees Council and specialist officers including a Fire Investigation Officer.
