The eighth strike by firefighters on New Year’s Eve passed without serious problems.
The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) said its stand-by crews attended 18 incidents during the strike from 6.30 pm to 12.30 am.
They included an automatic fire alarm call at Holdsworth Road, Holmfield, Halifax, at 11.25 pm; and at 12.27 am a bin fire at Albert Promenade, Savile Park, Halifax.
Chief Fire Officer Simon Pilling said the number of callouts were around the average for the period.
There were 24 fire engines covering the county compared to the normal fleet of 54.
The next strike in the ongoing dispute over pensions is tomorrow (Fri) from 6.30 am to 8.30 am.
