Firefighters called to hospital to cut novelty handcuffs off woman

FIREFIGHTERS were called to Calderdale Royal Hospital today to release a woman locked in a novelty pair of handcuffs.

The female, who was in her 20s, attended the accident and emergency department at around 2am after becoming trapped in the cuffs.

But despite hospital staff managing to cut the chain, an engine from Halifax fire station was needed to cut the cuffs of her hands.

Crew manager Mark Jones said: "It wasn't the usual call we would get and certainly a bit different.

"But the women was very cooperative and we got them off pretty quick."
